              Disadvantages of Social Media:

• Moral panics is a theory that can be used to describe how the mass media creates folk devils out of products or groups of people. Creates fear. Fear around violent games, The Joker Film, Fortnite. The fact social media can increase anxiety and depression. Social media makes it easier for moral panics to happen.
  
• Fake news is when untrue or unauthorized news spreads on social media. Fake news about Ukrainian war or the Coronavirus vaccine. Tiktok spread fake news about the Ukrainian war. 5G causes Coronavirus and creates anti-vax groups.
  
• Trolling and cyberbullying. Negative body image/unrealistic expectations of celebrities or negative comments in general. Jesy Nelson from Little Mix got trolled because her body type is different to the other members of the group. She made a documentary about this on BBC iPlayer called Jesy Nelson: 'Odd One Out'. • Cultural impact of social media, too much social media in our faces (imperialism).
