Technology and social media have allowed us to distribute products globally to different audiences (globalisation). This is a cheaper way and social media allows products to make people more money and reach target audiences easier. Long tail theory shows how niche products can be just as important as mainstream when it was harder to do traditionally since it costed more to ship products and it used to be harder to advertise and sell products more globally.
